Welcome to my website. I am pleased to share some of my paintings inspired by vivid color and light. Here you can see some of my paintings and learn a bit about me, and choose a painting for your home or workplace.
I love the landscapes and people of Southwest Virginia. The valleys and mountains have wonderful hidden vistas and rivers. Our towns are full of fascinating scenes. Painting energizes visual and mental freedom for me. As water moves through my paintings it creates transparent images like what we see through our internal filters. I am drawn to exploring what is beyond our initial perceptions to uncover unknown truths. I strive to express my joy at the beauty of the world.
All of my compositions are original whether drawn and painted en plein air or modified from my own photos. My art is created with transparent and deeper layers of watercolor and gouache. I often use Holbein and Daniel Smith paints and Arches 140 lb or 300 lb paper.
In my work as a psychotherapist I learned that the moment of discovery is the most intense human experience. It is my pleasure to share my discoveries with you.

Jeannie was educated at Mount Holyoke College and earned her doctorate at University of Virginia in 1980. She practiced as a Clinical Psychologist until her retirement in 2018. She has studied art and painting with Jesi Pace-Berkeley and Robin Poteet.
